Over the last 20 years, I have worked primarily with people at the end of their lives.  I have had the honor of learning what people find is important at the end of life.  And what’s important is usually relationships.  You can’t take the money or the house or the stuff with you, but your legacy can live on. The most meaningful part of my work has been connecting deeply with another person one on one. Out of this work I noticed a yearning to help people earlier on in their lives. I also saw the profound effect of stress on my own and my clients’ physical and emotional health. I grew more interested in non- medication ways of supporting client’s health to supplement medications. We can live from our values and priorities and develop more meaning earlier in life.

My medical training included family medicine and hospice/palliative medicine. I am Board certified in Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Over the last years, I completed additional training in yoga, mindfulness based somatic therapy, post traumatic growth somatic therapy, polyvagal theory, mind-body medicine, resiliency, Reiki and meditation. I am certified in Post Traumatic Growth Somatic Therapy and Neural Circuit Retraining and Pain Reprocessing Therapy. I am certified in yoga teaching. In an effort to spread the word about resilience and wholeheartedness, I began teaching classes on wholeness, nutrition, sleep, resilience and treatment of compassion fatigue/burnout for professional caregivers. I now offer one on one sessions for people who want to go deeper and explore the mind-body connection in their lives. I also provide cognitive behavioral therapy and supportive counseling. I refer clients to other skilled providers as well. I am not a psychiatrist nor a licensed mental health worker.

Parenting my two daughters is another of my greatest learning experiences. My husband and I live on a few acres outside of Grand Junction Colorado. We love the room to spread out a little and enjoy the views of the Colorado River and the Bookcliffs. We enjoy gardening, listening to the wild turkeys gobble, and watching the deer roam (while our garden is safe from grazing inside a 6 foot fence!)

Music is one of my intense passions. I am currently singing with a small women’s a capella vocal group, Vocal Junction. Nature is another of my passions, particularly hiking in the desert and mountains. I volunteer as a trail ambassador at the Colorado National Monument weekly.
